Design PhilosophyGraphic design is an art form that is constantly surrounding us and is always changing. The idea of change and being able to communicate through digital works is what influences me. Like graphic design as a whole, my art is always changing. Most of my work is inspired by my passion for travel. I’ve been given many opportunities in my life to explore. The different places I visit and the experiences I gain through those places have a big role in my work. I use photography as a way to capture certain memories and experiences and then translate those photos into digitally illustrated works.
My style is heavily influenced by art deco and a more minimalistic approach. Art deco and minimalism are quite opposite in terms of style but I appreciate geometric shapes and simple, clean lines. Although I have a preferred style, I find that I am adaptable and can mold my style with the needs and wants of clients. When I work with a client, I first begin by researching the information I’m going to need to carry out the project like who I will be targeting and what the message is. Then I gather additional inspiration from online sources, print material, and my own personal experiences. Lastly, I formulate a list of ideas that come to mind and then sketch a few out before getting to work. I like to have several sketched variations of a design to give myself and the client options before I narrow it back down into the direction I intend to proceed with. As I grow throughout my design career, I want to make sure I push myself to make designs that are meaningful and have a lasting impact. |
